A Question About Disney Songs

Recently I told my friends from FriendsWhoCare that my youngest daughter was expecting her 1st child in November. However 1 of things I didn’t mention was that while she usually calls me several times a day I am still on her weekly baby update mailing list. Good thing too since she usually forgets to mention much of the stuff she includes in those updates.

Yesterday I received another update with an the normal things about how big the baby is and how much it’s moving but it also contained an unusual P.S. Now the important thing about the news was that everything is fine and on schedule except for the fact that my daughter is feeling very huge. I just saw her a few days ago and didn’t think she looked all that “huge.” But since she’s always been thin and this is her 1st I can understand why she feels that way.

Anyway, since she sent a question that I can’t answer in her P.S. I thought I would post it here with the hope that someone who does know the answer will leave it in a comment.

Here’s a copy of her P.S.

PS - Does anyone know where I can find a CD with everyone’s favorite Disney Movie theme songs on it? You know the big ones like, I know you I walked with you Once Upon a Dream, from Sleeping Beauty and, When you Wish upon a Star, from Pinocchio? I really want those for the baby…they are the only lullibyish songs I know besides the ones my mom sang me. And don’t worry, Mom, I’m already brushing up on my Peter Paul and Mary (does anyone know where I can get their greatest hits? All I have is a cassette tape and I haven’t had a cassette player in years…same problem with my Herman’s Hermits Greatest Hits too).

I would really appreciate an answer to her question since it reminded me that I haven’t listened to many of my “golden oldies” for awhile either since my copies are all on vinyl or cassettes. So if you know where we can find CDs with Disney classic theme songs or oldies from the 60’s please leave a comment. My daughter and I will be extremely grateful.

Susan

How Men and Women Think

Being an online marketer I have a Twitter account and 1 of the things I try to do everyday is read the tweets of those I follow.

Today while checking the tweets I was shown a video I just had to share. Of course the first thing I did was retweet the sender of the information because that’s the polite thing to do on Twitter. But then I thought I’d go ahead and post the video here so non-Twitterers could watch it too.

The title of the video is “Men’s Brains vs Women’s Brains” and it’s a hilarious description from Mark Gungor’s Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage Conference. It describes the difference between men’s and women’s brains when it comes to telling and remembering details (and everything else).

Now there is an ad at the bottom of the video however I am not endorsing him or his videos since I personally don’t know anything about either.

Watch the video because it does explain a lot and I think it’s really funny.

Please leave a comment and let me know what you think.

Susan

2 Well Deserved Ataboys

As a proud grandmother I am giving both my grand-kids a well deserved ataboy.

The first 1 is really an atagirl and goes to Brianna. This atagirl is long overdue since she actually earned it more than 5  years ago, long before I set up this blog. While in elementary school Brianna earned the 1st place award and prize for having the best conservation slogan and poster in the areas conservation contest. And while we had to help her understand what conservation means she came up with her own words and made the poster herself. (I am pointing this out because many parents around here do the work and put the child’s name on it. We didn’t!)

Atagirl Bridanna for doing a good job all by yourself!

The second ataboy goes to Austin for doing a community service last month. Austin is an avid skateboarder and knows how hard it is to be a skateboarder in a community that doesn’t have any place for skateboarders to practice. With no skateparks, mostly brick streets and badly maintained sidewalks means skaters have to provide their own equipment and be creative about where to use it.

Unfortunately some skaters either don’t know or don’t care that being creative about where to practice doesn’t mean you can be destructive. So last month some park benches in 1 of our downtown parks were dirtied and scuffed by skateboarders. When my grandson and some of his friends heard about the damage they went to the park to clean up and repair the benches. This action was not prompted or forced by their parents since none of us knew about it until a story appeared in the local paper along with the names and pictures of the boys doing the work.

(My grandson is the 1 in front with the light colored shirt and I think that is 1 of his skateboards resting against the wall.)

Ataboy Austin for knowing what it means to be a good citizen!

Those are my 2 ata-girls/boys. If you would like to give 1 to a young person for doing something special please feel free to leave a comment and tell us who you’re proud of and what they did.

To Your Success,
Susan

Update

I’d like to add an ataboy for the creators of Twitter. Yesterday I read an article, “Twitter Proves Its Worth During Iran Protests.” It seems Twitter had scheduled their site to be down for an upgrade however they rescheduled when they found it was being used to keep people informed of what was happening in real time.

Unacceptable Customer Service

I haven’t posted anything for awhile however this morning something happened that I just have to share.

Driving home this morning from taking our grandkids to swim team practice my husband suggested we stop and get some fresh donuts. And although we live in a small town we do have 2 donut shops and we were going to pass 1 on the way home.

Since I’m always in the mood for fresh donuts I agreed.

When we went in a kid around 10 years old offered to wait on us. I asked him if they had any blueberry donuts since those are my grandson’s favorite and he said they had 3. I then said I would take a mixed dozen and wanted to start with the 3 blueberry donuts. The boy got the 3 donuts and before I could say anything else he had put 8 donuts in the box.

I stopped him and asked if he had to give me a certain type of donut. He just gave me a blank stare.

The boy’s father who had been seated at a table eating breakfast with a customer came to the counter and told the boy to continue to fill the box. He then looked at me and asked if there was a problem. I repeated my question about if I had to get certain kinds in my box of donuts.

I was informed in a very stern tone that I could get any kind however because I didn’t know what I wanted and had ordered a mixed dozen the boy knew what to do to fill the box.

Now when I went in I thought I knew what I wanted since I always get 6 glazed and mix the other six with 2 - 3 blueberry and chocolate for the rest. However being told that I didn’t know what I wanted in a not very nice way caught me totally off guard.

I did manage to get them to exchange 1 donut that I knew no one would eat for a chocolate one. However we left with a dozen donuts like I’ve never gotten before.

Now I realize that it’s silly to get upset over a box of donuts but I am. Not because of the strange assortment and not because of the price.

I am upset because of the way I was treated!

You see, as a donut loving customer I knew what I wanted and in addition to the box of mixed donuts I usually order some of the more expensive items. But when I was told, “You ordered a mixed dozen and don’t know what you want” in such a rude way, I paid for the donuts and left.

As my husband I and I got in our car we agreed that we would never visit that particular donut shop again.

Am I wrong for being upset? Do you think I or anyone should be told they don’t know what they want by a merchant when they go to buy something?

As an online business person I would never think of doing such a thing. But maybe I’m wrong. Maybe the customer isn’t always right.

What do you think?

To Your Success,
Susan
