Stop Popups

Everybody wants to stop popups,  Right?

And why do we want to stop them? Because they’re just like telemarketing phone calls and spam email. They appear without warning to offer us something we probably don’t want.

Recently I stumbled upon a funny video that shows not only how frustrating it is to get lots of popups but also how frustrating it is to try and get help when these popups take over our PC. And while I don’t endorse his method to stop popups or the way he handled tech support, I thought you could use a good laugh about these real life problems.

Again, do not use his method to stop popups because it would be hazardous to your PC’s health! Below the video I offer an alternative suggestion on how to stop popups.

Hope you enjoyed the video and here are my suggestions on how to stop popups:

  1. Use a popup blocker. Just about every web browser has a free one that just needs to be turned on.
  2. Avoid going to sites that may be using not only lots of popups but some of these popups may try to download viruses or spyware. There’s no easy way to identify which sites or types of sites these are however I’d definately recommend not using any of the links included in spam email.

And for those popups that still get through:

Stay calm and recite …

Stop popups…   Stop popups…   Stop popups… while you close the popup.

I doubt that this will really stop popups but you never know …

To Your Success,
Susan

  1. I’d rather do it his way. Looks like more fun.
We could also all go on a compaign and when we encounter really annoying popups we could find the contact info and let the site owner we might have signed up or even bought something but their popup ad was so annoying we changed our mind and would never visit the site again because of it. If enough of us took the time to do that it would definetly start having an inpact.

When a site owner starts seeing that his popup is hurting his reputation and more importantly his wallet then they might change their site. To be effective we would all have to do it.

I am going to bring up another pet peeve since I have the floor now. It’s those ads that have bonuses for the firts so many people or by a certain date. Once the milestone is reached then remove the bonus. Don’t tell me I’m too late for the bounus because I just found out about the offer or didn’t have time to check it out till it was too. Late. I for one really feel left out and that I missed something by not making the purchase within the guidelines. Whatever you do never tell me about missing the main bonus after I click the purchase button and I’m betting ready to check out. Talk about abondoning the cart syndrome. I get the ailment real quick when that hapens.

  2. OMG! I am laughing so hard, I am crying, and my dogs think I’m nuts. I don’t know what I liked better, the guy with “all the middle names” or the “reason” the newly married gal wanted to keep her maiden name email address, or anything in between! Oh, Lord, thank you for this one! And, of course, the tips, too. :)
