Big Oil Company Tops the Fortune 500 List

The Price of Gas

The Price of Gas

This morning I read the news and found that WalMart didn’t get the number 1 postion on the Fortune 500 list this year.

Now WalMart not being number 1 was interesting however what was even more interesting was that the top 5 companies were:

  1. Exxon Mobil
  2. Wal-Mart
  3. Chevron
  4. ConocoPhillips
  5. General Electric

3 of the top 5 were oil companies!

Now being on the Fortune 500 list doesn’t mean they made money. In fact, ConocoPhillips lost almost $17 billion even though its revenues grew nearly 25%.

And ConocoPhillips wasn’t alone since there were 128 companies on the Fortune 500 list that had losses last year.

While I don’t always support big business I think having more than 1/4 of American’s biggest companies losing money is scary.

Don’t you?

To Your Success in these rough times,
Susan

  1. Makes you wonder how Exxon can have record profits, and ConocoPhillips loses money. Gas prices are usually within a couple cents of each other. Oh that’s right, Exxon are crooks.

Interesting phenomenons going on while the economy readjusts. They pushed the limits of what the market could bear.

I sure hope people have had a reawakening. I know I have.
